CONCORD, Mass. -- Welch’s here has selected Prescient Applied Intelligence, West Chester, Pa., to host and maintain its vendor-managed inventory (VMI) program, Prescient announced yesterday. Welch's has been using Prescient’s VMI software since 1999 to replenish regular turn merchandise and promotional items with eight retailers. However, in anticipation of conducting VMI with more trading partners, Welch’s decided to outsource it to Prescient rather than to continue managing VMI in-house. “We opted to have [Prescient] host our VMI solution so we can concentrate our technical resources on our core business systems,” said Donna Rosentrater, senior manager of application development at Welch’s, in a statement.
