MATTHEWS, N.C. — A new recycling program allows Harris Teeter shoppers to exchange their old electronics for Harris Teeter gift cards. Another option is to donate the dollar amount to the school of their choice.
Visitors to a recycling page on Harris Teeter's website indicate the make, model and overall condition of the item they wish to recycle, along with a few simple questions before receiving an estimated amount for the donation.
An Apple iPhone in working condition, for instance, earns $137 in rewards. The customer can then accept the reward in gift card form or donate the dollar amount to the Together in Education fund-raising program for the school of their choice. Harris Teeter will provide the shopper with a prepaid shipping label and voucher to send their electronic device at no charge.
Music players, laptops, flat-panel monitors, PC systems, game systems, cell phones, video cameras and more can be recycled.
Shoppers can also order collection materials for a one-time collection event, or start a recycling fund-raising program to support local schools. The program is developed in conjunction with recycling facilitator MyBoneYard.
