CULVER CITY, Calif. — Sprouts Farmers Market, Phoenix, will open a store here Wednesday that will be the first in the 49-store chain to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, the company said.

Based on the Green Building Rating System that was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED provides a suite of standards for the environmentally sustainable design, construction and operation of buildings and neighborhoods.
